Hi, I`m Brett Baum!
Wheatland is an exceptional place to live, work and raise a family. As your councilman, I’ll fight to keep it that way.
A Campaign for a Better Wheatland!
A Message from Brett Baum
Hello, Wheatland neighbors! My name is Brett Baum, and I'm excited to announce my candidacy for Wheatland Town Council. As a resident and community advocate, I am dedicated to making our town an even better place to live, work, and raise a family.
Why I’m Running
Wheatland is a vibrant and growing community, but we face challenges that require strong leadership and a fresh perspective. My campaign is focused on three key areas:
1. Economic Growth and Opportunity
Support Local Businesses: Strengthening our local economy by supporting small businesses and attracting new industries to create jobs and boost our town’s prosperity.
Infrastructure Improvements: Ensuring our infrastructure can support growth, including roads, public transportation, and utilities.
2. Community and Public Safety
Safe Neighborhoods: Working closely with law enforcement to ensure our neighborhoods are safe for all residents.
Public Services: Enhancing public services such as emergency response, healthcare, and community programs.
3. Education and Youth Engagement
Quality Education: Advocating for resources and programs that improve our local schools and provide opportunities for lifelong learning.
Youth Programs: Expanding recreational and educational programs to keep our youth engaged and prepared for the future.
Committed to fostering a thriving, safe, and community-focused Wheatland
"Committed to fostering a thriving, safe, and community-focused Wheatland."
Brett Baum is a dedicated resident of Wheatland, WY, having moved here after many years in Southern California. During his time in California, he met his lovely wife, Darla, started a family, and built a successful career in project management.
Brett graduated Summa Cum Laude from ITT Technical Institute with an Associate of Applied Science in Electrical Engineering. He began his career as an electrical technician and high-speed duplication technician before joining a top 5 financial institution, where he worked as a project coordinator/manager for 23 years. In his role, Brett oversaw project scopes and budgets, collaborated with vendors, internal team members, and external customers, and ensured retail banking offices remained operational during infrastructure upgrades and relocations. Known for his out-of-the-box problem-solving skills, Brett was the go-to person for unique and challenging service requests.
As their daughter grew up, married, and started her own family, Brett and Darla observed significant changes in California’s political climate, particularly regarding individual rights and parental control over education. This prompted their daughter and her husband to move to Wheatland, WY, where he has family. Not wanting to be long-distance grandparents and seeking a better political environment, Brett and Darla decided to relocate as well.
Since moving to Wheatland, Brett has dedicated himself to understanding the needs and aspirations of the local community. He regularly attends town meetings and engages with residents to stay informed about local issues and concerns. His commitment to family values and community well-being drives his desire to serve on the town council.
Brett and Darla have been happily married for 36 years and are proud parents of one daughter and grandparents to six grandchildren, aged 3 to 14 years. Brett is committed to bringing his extensive project management experience, dedication to family values, and problem-solving skills to the town council. He aims to enhance the quality of life in Wheatland by focusing on balanced growth, community safety, and ensuring that the voices of all residents are heard.
